HSAW Pipe Manufacturing Process

HSAW (Helical Submerged Arc Welded) pipes are widely used in water supply, oil, gas, and construction projects. The manufacturing process ensures strength, durability, and high-quality welding, meeting international standards for safety and performance.

  1. Raw Material Selection

    High-quality steel plates or coils are selected to meet ASTM/ISO standards for thickness, tensile strength, and chemical composition. Raw material quality is critical for ensuring durability and corrosion resistance.

  2. Uncoiling & Leveling

    Steel coils are uncoiled, straightened, and leveled to remove residual stresses. This ensures a flat, uniform surface for smooth forming.

  3. Edge Preparation

    Edges of the steel strip are milled or trimmed to achieve precise geometry, ensuring a perfect fit and strong welding seam.

  4. Helical Pipe Forming

    The prepared steel strip is fed into a forming machine that bends it into a helical shape, forming the pipe body with a continuous spiral edge.

  5. Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)

    Internal and external welding is performed using the Submerged Arc Welding process. Flux is applied to shield the molten weld metal, ensuring high weld strength and defect-free joints.

  6. Weld Inspection & Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

    Every weld is tested using Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and/or Radiographic Testing (RT). Hydrostatic testing is performed to ensure leak-proof performance under pressure.

  7. Cutting & Beveling

    Pipes are cut to required lengths using automatic cutting machines, and ends are beveled for easy joining during field installation.

  8. Surface Cleaning & Treatment

    Pipes are shot-blasted or cleaned to remove scale, rust, and oil, preparing them for coating and lining.

  9. Premium Corrosion Protection Coating

    External coatings such as 3LPE (Three-Layer Polyethylene), Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE), or Coal Tar Enamel are applied. Internal coatings or linings such as Cement Mortar or Epoxy Coating are applied for water pipelines to ensure maximum corrosion resistance.

  10. Final Inspection & Quality Assurance

    Dimensional checks, coating thickness verification, and visual inspections are conducted. A Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is issued after all tests are passed.

  11. Packing & Dispatch

    Pipes are stacked, bundled, and fitted with protective end caps to avoid transit damage. They are then shipped to the project site or customer warehouse.

AKV CLASSIC PIPE, is the HSAW pipe manufacturing & Premium Corrosion protection Coating. The company’s inception in 2024 was resultant of the need of a competitive and secure source which could fulfill the steel pipe requirements of the flagship company of the water supply & sewages projects involving steel pipes. Since then, the company over the years, has graduated in to a well placed source for SAW pipes [SAW] needs [onshore and offshore], of its esteemed clientele, both domestic and overseas.

The Company is catering to the varied needs of pipes of its domestic and foreign clients, for use in cross-country water pipelines, sewerage, dredging industry, piling, power plants. The plant currently offers Longitudinally-cum-Circumferentially Welded Carbon Steel Pipes, with diameters ranging from 458 mm to 3000 mm and in thicknesses ranging from 4 mm to 25 mm. The Plant can supply pipes in lengths ranging from 11600 mm to 12100 mm [as per client requirements].

Over the years the company has created a technical niche for itself in pipe manufacturing and in design, development & manufacture of built-up structures and competes with the very best in this field. Satisfied clientele has ensured repeat orders and the Company is well and truly on systematic and planned growth path.
